Online Therapy for Transgender, Neurodivergent & LGBTQ+ Youth in New York
Specialized, developmentally informed telehealth for children, teens, and young adults across New York State
If you're in New York and searching for a therapist who truly understands transgender and gender-diverse young people — especially when gender identity intersects with neurodivergence, trauma, or anxiety — you may have already discovered how hard that search can be. Waitlists at gender clinics are long. Many therapists list "LGBTQ+ affirming" without specialized training. And families often need more than validation: they need someone who understands how identity, development, and nervous systems interact.
That's the work I do. I'm Rachel Doyle, Ph.D. (she/they), a licensed psychologist in New York providing online therapy for children, teens, and young adults throughout the state — from New York City and Long Island to Westchester, the Hudson Valley, Albany, Rochester, Buffalo, and everywhere in between.
Who I Work With in New York
Transgender, nonbinary, and gender-diverse children, teens, and young adults — including gender identity exploration, dysphoria, and navigating school, family, and community
Neurodivergent young people — autistic and ADHD clients, including those navigating masking, emotional regulation, shutdowns, and overwhelm
Queer and questioning youth and young adults — LGBTQ+ affirming therapy for minority stress, identity, and belonging
Parents and caregivers — support and guidance when your child is questioning or transitioning and you want to get it right
Many of the young people I see are working through several of these at once. That intersection is my specialty, not a footnote.
How Online Therapy Works in New York
I hold a full, independent psychologist license in New York, which means I can provide telehealth to clients located anywhere in the state. Sessions take place over a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. For children and teens, I work closely with parents and caregivers throughout — you're part of the process, not on the outside of it.
Telehealth works especially well for the young people I serve: no commutes after school, access to specialized care that may not exist locally, and for many neurodivergent clients, the comfort of being in their own space.
Fees & Insurance
Sessions are $300 for 50 minutes. I'm an out-of-network provider and can supply a superbill for you to submit to your insurer — many New York plans include out-of-network mental health benefits. A limited number of reduced-fee slots are reserved for clients who would not otherwise be able to access care. You can find full details on my Rates & Billing page.

Getting Started
I begin with a free 15–20 minute consultation call so we can decide together whether working together is the right fit. If you're in New York and this sounds like what your family has been looking for, I'd be glad to connect. Not in New York? You can see all the states where I practice.
